Sales time, but the weather doesn't give discounts

It's the beautiful shopping season, the sales. In the past they arrived twice a year - after Christmas and the summer holidays - to keep the engine of the economy running after respectively the "acceleration" of gifts and travel.

Perceived as a boon for the best purchase, from electronics to clothing, they respond to any type of interest.

Today sales, like the weather, no longer have a beginning or end. Between promos at the beginning of the season and discounts at the end, and between them all the promotions for the white night or the Black Friday, which becomes a whole week, we have the houses, from the closets to the cellars, including wardrobes and drawers,over-full of everything and more.. Things without which our existence would be unattainable, unthinkable… unsustainable! But how have be able to live all the previous generations?!

And in the stressful race for the best offer, what is unmissable is what can no longer be sustained, in addition to a hamster's life chasing all this, isthe rise in the earth's temperature, due to pollution.

Climate change, from out-of-season blooms to prolonged and above-normal heat, is before our eyes - not a conspiracy theorist joke - like a whole series of disasters, violent and very dangerous, difficult to predict .

Nowin fact we no longer see those summer storms that unleashed some lightning and thunder without serious consequences, but tornades, water bombs, floods. Sadly, overflows of canals and rivers are commonplace which, if they were empty and dry before, are then unable to contain or absorb the rain due to the speed and quantity with which it arrives. And tragic floods overwhelm people, homes and work activities: do you know how many zeros have the damages of all this?... and not sales!

On the global warming weighs the textile sector also after the energy and agricultural sectors.

The clothing industry wastes considerable quantities of water for the production of fabrics and their color treatment. It dirties and pollutes precious and fundamental resources such as the air, water and soil of our planet, which also enter our bodies when we breathe, eat and drink.

Production of garments in large volumes compared to the real needs of people, considered more buyers than living beings by the managers of multinationals in achieving their budgets, are often eliminated, shredded or burned. So double pollution: first to make them and then to destroy them.

Yes, let's talk about fast fashion. Poor quality clothing, which low cost brands don't want to manage if unsold or returned. Better to eliminate it due to their low value.

So why should we trade our health and our home, our environment, for something that isn't even worth existing?

Are we sure that the environmental issue, which governments still address with little conviction (perhaps because is the economy to governs politics), will not be paid by the "usual ones"? Or that sales aren't an opportunity more for companies than for consumers?
